This roughly translates into one in eight of the population that will probably find that your services are not as accessible. If your building or services are not properly equipped you will be preventing deaf people from using your services.

The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 makes it unlawful to discriminate on the grounds of disability when providing services, facilities, goods or employment. Part 3 of the Act stipulates that it is the duty of a service provider to make reasonable adjustments from October 01, 1999.

Building Regulations 1991 also make it a requirement to provide 'Access & Facilities' for people with disabilities, in particular communication links for deaf and hard of hearing people.
